MANILA - Comedienne Kakai Bautista congratulated the brother of Mario Maurer on the release of his new music video, leaving some of her fans optimistic that there's a chance she might rekindle her friendship with the Thai superstar.

Last year, Kakai revealed that she was barred from talking to Maurer after rumors of a brewing romantic relationship swirled. "Hindi ko po alam, basta ang alam ko lang, bawal na ako makipag-usap sa kanya. At kahit makarating pa 'to sa Bangkok, alam nila 'yun. Ganun talaga. Hindi na kami nag-uusap," she admitted.

On Instagram on Friday, Kakai reposted the music video of Maurer's brother, Marco. "Proud of you Bro!" she wrote as the caption.

In the comments section, a fan was perhaps overly positive when she wrote about Kakai and Maurer: "Ang saya lang Ate Kakai na makita na hanggang ngayon ay hindi pa rin nawala iyong friendship ninyo."

Bautista and Maurer met on the set of the movie "Suddenly It's Magic," which the Thai actor made with Erich Gonzales in 2012. It led to rumors about them being in a relationship.

In 2013, Maurer allegedly skipped a movie shoot just to meet Bautista when she went to Bangkok. However, in previous interviews, Bautista, while expressing her gratitude to Maurer, said that she was not hoping for anything more than friendship despite their close relationship.
