MANILA -- A week after being named among the Liberal Party’s possible senatorial candidates, actor Dingdong Dantes has finally addressed the supposed push for his candidacy in the 2019 elections.

Dantes’s answer came in the form of a comment on Ogie Diaz’s Facebook post Monday, after the talent manager-host tagged the “Fantastica” star in expressing support for a potential senatorial bid.

“Salamat sa tiwala, Ogie,” Dantes wrote, “pero hindi po ako tatakbong senador.”

Diaz’s mention of Dantes was prompted by a question from his followers for his regular “Mama Ogs Answers” updates on social media. He was asked whether he approves of Dantes possibly seeking office.

“Oo naman. Sobra. Mas disente kesa sa Pepedederalismo,” Diaz responded, with reference to the recent controversy involving Palace communications official Mocha Uson.

Dantes campaigned for the presidential bid of former President Benigno Aquino III in 2010, and was subsequently appointed commissioner-at-large of the National Youth Commission in 2014.

Aside from Dantes, other showbiz personalities mentioned in the reported list of the LP-led coalition’s slate were actress Agot Isidro, and singers Leah Navarro and Jim Paredes.
