MANILA -- Dimples Romana will have to take a break from playing the popular Daniela Mondragon, the character everybody loves to hate in the afternoon soap, “Kadenang Ginto,” albeit only temporarily, to host an annual tribute to the teachers.

Romana will be joined by a star-studded line-up of celebrities in “Gabay Guro,” which will mark its 12th anniversary with a grand gathering on September 22 at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena. Also hosting the event are comedians Jose Manalo and Wally Bayola.

Veteran artists such as Kuh Ledesma, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Martin Nievera, Pops Fernandez, Zsa Zsa Padilla and Jaya will perform in the tribute. They will be joined by other top artists such as Piolo Pascual, Gabby Concepcion, Ian Veneracion, Angeline Quinto, Kyla, Jed Madela, Christian Bautista, Erik Santos and Jay-R.

Also featured in the line-up of performers are Edward Barber, Maymay Entrata, Darren Espanto, “Idol Philippines” grand champion Zephanie Dimaranan, Moira de la Torre, Klarisse de Guzman, Jayson Dy, Jona and K Brosas.

Around 20,000 teachers from all over the country will troop to MOA Arena for the event, where they can win exciting prizes.

Since 2007, “Gabay Guro” has been empowering teachers across the country through its seven key pillars – housing and educational facilities, scholarships, trainings, livelihood programs, broadcasting and computerization, annual teacher’s tribute and the innovations pillar.

“Gabay Guro” is the flagship advocacy program for teachers of PLDT-Smart Foundation.
