MANILA - Sultry Filipina-Brazilian actress Daiana Menezes has confirmed that she and husband Benjo Benaldo, former solon of Cagayan de Oro are now separated.

In a report published by PEP.ph on Monday, Menezes confirmed that she and Benaldo have been separated for two years now but it was just March last year when she left the former politician.

"I couldn't make it anymore. ....I think naiintindihan niya din niya kung bakit. ... emotionally unstable, siguro? I mean hindi siguro talaga kami meant para sa isa't isa ... Talagang I fell out of love. Decision ko talaga 'yon,'" the report quoted Daiana as saying.

Menezes, who initiated the split, also confirmed that she already filed for divorce in the United States.

Menezes and Benaldo got married in Las Vegas in 2012.

"So I filed it na, and then I also filed a temporary protection order and a restraining order dahil kailangan ko 'yan," she said.

Asked if was there physical violence, Menezes replied: "Ayaw ko na lang magsalita, pero di ba ... iyon na iyon, parang nangyari din yon."

Right now, Menezes said that she's single and open to the idea of dating again.

"Meron akong suitor, non-showbiz. Meron mga showbiz pero ayoko, parang huwag na yung magulo," said Daiana.

In June 2013, Menezes stressed that she was never a victim of domestic violence as she shared a series of images pertaining to violence against women, including ones showing the words "No to rape," "Real Men Don't use Violence," and "There is no excuse for abuse."

Another photo on Menezes' Instagram page showed an arm bleeding from cuts and wounds.

In an interview with "The Buzz, " in 2013, Benaldo clarified that Menezes just wanted him to listen to her story about "something that had happened."

Days after, Menezes' husband made headlines when he was found at his office suffering from a gunshot wound.
