Kris Aquino did not mince words as she addressed a follower who accused her of using as a “publicity stunt” her efforts to bring aid to those affected by the recent floods in Metro Manila.

Early this week, Aquino posted on Instagram a video of her bringing packed goods to evacuees in Marikina City, and wrote in its caption: “Turo ng mom (late former President Corazon Aquino), sa gitna ng sakuna, mahalaga ang personal na effort. Worth it po kasi naparamdam ko sa kanila, hindi kailangang nakaposisyon para magbigay ng tulong at makisimpatya sa mga kapwa Pilipino.

“It was my honor to give back to my country. And with no political agenda (bawal po sa endorsement contracts), itutuloy ko po ang mag-share ng blessings na tinatanggap namin ni Kuya Josh and Bimb (her sons).”

The “Crazy Rich Asians” actress’ gesture got positive comments from her followers, but a few expressed disappointment with Aquino’s move to post about her visit to the evacuees.

One went as far as accusing Aquino of pulling off a “publicity stunt.”

Tagging Aquino, the follower wrote: “The great example of humanitarian is Mother Teresa. Ano ‘yan, publicity stunt? Takbo ka na lang mayor ng QC. Post ka nang post ng pagtulong mo. Ano kaya ‘yun. Gayahin mo na lang ang life ni Mother Teresa.”

Aquino, in a lengthy response to the follower, enumerated reasons why the “political math” is in her favor, including her self-earned wealth that can bolster a possible campaign, and her family’s experience in public service, particularly her brother Benigno Aquino III’s term as president.

She wrote, unedited: “you may just get what you asked for... do the political math- in a crowded field of candidates NAME RECOGNITION will matter... Kung campaign funds ang labanan- di rin naman ako magpapahuli- wala akong utang kaya kakayanin kong pondohan ang sarili ko. And an important plus for me- i have 32 years of BIR tax records that can prove how trustworthy i am about money dahil alam ko na ang pera ng bayan para sa bayan. Kaya kong hamunin lahat ng ibang kandidato na maglabasan kami ng ITR para magkaalaman na. Sure akong wala akong magiging problema sa SALN declaration dahil sa malinis na paraan kinita ang pera ko.

“Next point- wala nang bahong pwedeng mahalungkat dahil ang buong kwentong buhay ko alam ng buong Pilipinas. Wala rin asawang kailangan panagutan ang mga posibleng gawin. DO NOT BULLY ME. FYI i haven’t received the professional fees due me from my new multinational contracts- so there is nothing hanging over my head regarding funds that i may need to return.

“Let’s not forget- i will also have the best possible adviser when it comes to good governance- my BROTHER. So the city will get the best of both- VAST EXPERIENCE & TRANSPARENCY- hate to say it BUT that’s an unbeatable combination. After all it was under him that the Philippines came only 2nd to China in terms of economic growth. The difference now is that constituents will get daily FB & IG accomplishment reports from me. But i shall take my cue from his basketball analogy- you don’t share your playbook w/ the enemy- so WAIT KA LANG.

“I have the next 2 months to decide. Kung trip nyo kong bwisitin- you may get your worst nightmare come to life. Yan ang problema- yung kusang tumutulong hinuhusgahan. Yung mga naka posisyon na nagkulang ngayon naghahanap ng pwedeng ma-bully. YOU ARE MESSING WITH THE WRONG WOMAN. Our family is used to battling & slaying giants. So it would serve your personal interests to let me be- because you don’t want to mess w/ a warrior at rest. Because she can so very easily become the victorious David to your pitiful Goliath. #laban.”

Aquino has repeatedly said that several of her lucrative endorsement contracts stipulate that she should not be involved in politics, in an official capacity.
