MANILA - Liza Soberano, the star of "Dolce Amore," shared the story behind her photo with pop star Selena Gomez, who performed in the Philippines for the first time last Sunday.
The two met at the backstage of Gomez' Mall of Asia concert, which was part of her world tour promoting her second solo studio album, "Revival."
"Sobrang cute lang kasi nandoon ako tapos nag-aantay lang po ako," the teen actress told Push. "Tapos nahihiya kasi ako lumapit tapos sabi niya, 'Can I get a hug?' so lumapit ako tapos hinug ko siya."
Gushing, she added: "Sabi ko, 'I love you so much,' tapos sabi niya sa akin, 'You're beautiful, babe.'"
Soberano also defended herself from those claiming that she is a "fake fan" of Gomez, and that she does not deserve to have her picture taken with the "Hands to Myself" hitmaker.
"Natatawa lang ako because they’re getting mad at me because I saw Selena. Parang it doesn’t make sense why are you getting mad because I'm happy, 'di ba?" she asked.
"So wala lang, pinatulan ko lang kasi sabi niya, 'fake fan.' Natatawa lang ako so sinabi ko hindi ako fake fan kasi dati pa lang, I was a huge Jelena fan, especially Selena kasi mas una naman siyang nakilala kaysa kay Justin Bieber.
"I would watch all of her shows like 'Wizards of Waverly Place' and then her movies, and then talagang I would buy all her albums. You can even ask my fans," she concluded.
