MANILA – Many people thought that they would end up at the altar.

But after seven years of dating, Maxine Medina and Marx Topacio have parted ways.

During the press conference for her latest movie, “Pinay Beauty (She’s No White),” Medina admitted that she is no longer in a relationship with Topacio.

“Yes, I’m single,” she said, as reported by the entertainment website Push.

She went on to stress that she is focusing on her career in show business. “Focus muna ako sa career ko. I love this, eh. I love what I’m doing. Nag-e-enjoy ako,” she said.

Medina did not give further details about their breakup, only saying that she and Topacio need more “space to love ourselves first para ma-appreciate namin ‘yung isa’t isa.”

When asked if there was a third party involved, she replied: “Wala naman.”

Even if they have ended their relationship, Medina said she is still open to the possibility of getting back with Topacio, noting that they are still friends.

“Bakit naman hindi? Pero let’s see. We’re friends naman, okay naman po. May communication pa rin naman. Pero siyempre, sobrang busy ko po ngayon, eh. Siya rin, sobrang busy niya. Sobrang dami niyang ginagawa,” she said.

“Siyempre open pa rin ako. Everyone needs love. Sa akin lang kasi, parang I just really need to focus, saka alam ko ‘yung priorities ko,” she continued. “Tumatanda na tayong lahat, so alam naman natin kung saan tayo… kung anong dapat nating gawin.”

Medina did not reveal when she and Topacio broke up.

In an interview last February, Topacio said he is happy with how his relationship with Medina is going.
