MANILA -- Singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid has teamed up with the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra for his latest album "Nakakalokal," his first for Star Music.

In a press conference on Tuesday, Alcasid noted that the album is being released in time for his 50th birthday next month.

"I think it came at the right time, I'm 50, and it feels great," he said.

"Natutuwa ako. I'm speechless actually. Even my wife (Regine Velasquez), noong sinabi ko sa kanya na I was doing this, nandoon 'yung naghalong inggit siya, biro lang. But she was saying that she's very happy for me," said Alcasid, who had been open about his dream to one day work with the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra led by conductor Gerard Salonga.

"A song always sounds best when it's with the orchestra," he added.

For Alcasid, the new album is his way of reintroducing his music to millennials.

"Ito 'yung mga songs na ginawa ko for Star Cinema 15 years ago like 'Ikaw Lamang,' 'Kailangan Kita' at 'Ikaw Ang Aking Pangarap,'" he noted. "Siguro 'yung iba doon 'di na nila nakikilala 'yong mga kantang 'yon. I'm pretty sure they will like the songs."

His album also features the songs "Ikaw Ang Tanging Pag-Ibig Ko," "Akala Ko," "'Di Na Muli," "'Di Ka Pababayaan," "Do You Wanna Dance with Me" and "Nakakalokal," which was chosen as the official theme song for this year's "Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs."

Making his debut CD more special is the fact that his wife Regine Velasquez did all the back-up vocal arrangements. They also did a medley of the OPM hits "Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw," "Pangako" and "Hanggang Ngayon."
