MANILA -- Singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid on Wednesday revealed that he was initially being considered to host the local version of "Little Big Shots."

He also admitted that his wife Regine Velasquez felt sad when Billy Crawford was chosen to host the show instead.

In an interview after the launch of his debut album under Star Music titled "Nakakalokal," Alcasid said Velasquez loved the hit American children and talent show that premiered on NBC in 2016 and hosted by Steve Harvey.

"Lagi niyang pinapanood 'yon," he said.

"Siguro nagdamdam si Regine for me dahil gusto niya sa akin 'yon. But like I always say mayroong nababagay sa iyo, mayroong hindi. And thinking now sa schedule ko parang 'di ko din yata magagawa."

Last week, a teaser revealed that Crawford will be hosting the local version of "Little Big Shots," which will feature unique talents of kids ages 2 to 12 years old.

In the interview, Alcasid stressed that he has nothing against Crawford.

"I'm just thankful to ABS-CBN that they even considered, that I was given the opportunity to do the mock shoot. And I'm so happy that it went to Billy. I'm very proud of him. Obviously he deserves it more than I do. I even texted him. Sabi ko, 'Pare, I'm 100% behind you all the way' and I wish him all the success," stressed Alcasid, who explained that it was not ABS-CBN but the international franchise owner's decision to get Crawford to host the show.

"I think siguro because bago ako dito. They know Billy obviously because he's an international star and they've seen him, dami na niyang hinost. Na-feel noong may-ari ng franchise na si Billy talaga. Eh sila ang may-ari eh sila, ang masusunod," he said.

"Na-appreciate ko naman sa mga boss natin sa ABS-CBN na they are very supportive of me, they're very honest. Ganoon talaga. Gusto ko 'yung dinaanan ko 'yon, nag-audition ako, 'di ka natanggap. That's part of the process. You have to take that kahit 50 years old na ako at ang tagal-tagal ko na dito, dapat ganoon talaga," Alcasid said.
