MANILA -- "I Love You, Hater," the fourth big-screen team-up of Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia and the comeback film of Kris Aquino, has earned P40 million after its first five days in theaters.

Producer Star Cinema announced the figure Monday on its social media channels, saying the haul was tallied as of Sunday night. The Giselle Andres-directed film opened in cinemas nationwide last Wednesday, July 11.

"Maraming salamat, lovers and haters!" the announcement card read.

In an Instagram post Monday, Aquino captioned a photo of tickets to the movie with: "Our Saturday and Sunday box office both individually doubled the sales of opening day. We have a faithful and loving God who brought so many angels into my life. Maraming salamat po."

"I Love You, Hater" follows the rivalry of Zoey (Barretto) and Joko (Garcia), as they apply to become the assistant of Sasha (Aquino), the CEO of a digital media company.

Their relationship, however, soon tiptoes between fierce competition and romance, with the added complication of Joko having pretended to be gay to get the position.
