MANILA -- Vice Ganda and Anne Curtis were all smiles on Tuesday as they announced that they are headlining their first movie together, set to open this December.

Asked about how excited they were in working on this new project, "very" was their answer and their reaction felt like that of best friends about to go on their first trip abroad.

The two are known to be very close -- they had to rush down from shooting "It's Showtime" for the story conference, reminding everyone of just how much time they had spent together during this past decade -- and it was a wonder as to why it took them so long to do this.

"It's been years in the making and finally ito na nga," said Curtis, adding that at this point in their careers, she and Vice Ganda treat each other as family.

Little was revealed of the script, but Vice Ganda shared that it will be about bickering siblings and that they wanted to center it around the theme of trusting one's family.

The comedian also said they are hoping that it will be shown this Christmas, hinting that they had submitted it for consideration to this year's Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

Star Cinema has refrained from confirming this, saying that the MMFF is set to make an announcement regarding entries soon.

The movie, currently without a working title, is also set to feature Tony Labrusca and Dimples Romana, currently the talk of the town thanks to an Internet meme based on her role in the hit afternoon drama "Kadenang Ginto."

Of Romana's role, Vice Ganda teased that she will be portraying the antagonist: "Mambuwi-buwisit siya pero patawa."

Romana could not attend the story conference herself but was funnily represented by a cardboard cutout of her meme look.

It will be directed by Barry Gonzalez.
