MANILA — Dressed as Aladdin and Princess Jasmine, Darren Espanto and Morissette finally performed their rendition of “A Whole New World” on television for the first time on Sunday.
The Kapamilya singers granted the wish of fans who have long waited for them to bring their duet of the iconic “Aladdin” tune to the “ASAP Natin ‘To” stage.
Clad in outfits resembling the main characters of the well-loved Disney animation, Espanto and Morissette appeared to ride a “magic carpet” as they sang the Alan Menken composition.
The two were handpicked by Disney as the official interpreters of “A Whole New World” in the Philippines, leading up to the recent release of “Aladdin’s” live-action remake.
Morissette, in fact, got to personally meet Menken and Genie actor Will Smith, and had them applauding as she performed for them a portion of the song.
