MANILA – Lea Salonga spoke highly of ABS-CBN President and CEO Carlo Katigbak amid the franchise woes the broadcast giant is facing.

In a two-part tweet on Sunday, Salonga said she can vouch for Katigbak’s grace even if she’s only met him personally a few times.

“He’s been nothing but filled with grace and calm, and always with a smile on his face,” she said.

“As much as I fear that things won’t go the way of ABS-CBN, this much I know: He will continue to lead without acting the bully or throwing his weight around,” she added.

According to Salonga, Katigbak is the kind of leader she resonates with, the kind of leader she follows and the kind of leader she aspires to be.

“Whatever happens, Carlo, I lift you up and support you,” she said.

Last week, the government ordered the shutdown of more of the network’s broadcast platforms.

Separate cease and desist orders from the National Telecommunications Commission directed ABS-CBN to stop operating its digital TV transmission in Metro Manila using channel 43 (TVPlus), as well as Sky Cable Corp.'s SKYdirect.

The network's TV and radio broadcast operations were earlier ordered to halt on May 5, a day after its franchise expired.

Legislators are expected to vote on ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal this week after several days of conducting public hearings.
