MANILA — Blackpink’s comeback song, “How You Like That,” has broken five records in its first week of release.

The song, the South Korean girl group’s first since last year’s “Kill This Love,” was released on YouTube last Friday with an accompanying music video which received 86.3 million views in its first day, breaking several previous records held by fellow K-pop superstars BTS.

These are:

  • Most viewed YouTube video in 24 hours
  • Most viewed music video on YouTube in 24 hours
  • Most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours by a K-pop group

According to the Guinness World Records, all three records were previously held by BTS’s collaboration with US singer Halsey, “Boy With Luv,” released in April 2019.

It was also said that Blackpink’s “How You Like That” set new records for the most viewers for the premiere of a video on YouTube, and the most viewers for the premiere of a music video on the platform.

The live premiere of “How You Like That” reached 1.66 million peak concurrent viewers.

“How You Like That” is billed as the first in a series of releases from Blackpink, which is expected to culminate with the unveiling of their first full-length album in September.

It was earlier reported that there were plans for them to debut two other songs, to be released between now and the album’s release.

Blackpink — made up of Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa — debuted in 2016, and has since become one of the world's biggest girl groups.

They are managed by YG Entertainment, the same company that formed K-pop powerhouses Big Bang and 2NE1.
