MANILA -- Blackpink on Friday dropped a new song, kicking off a series of releases that will culminate in the unveiling of the South Korean girl group's first full-length album in September.

"How You Like That," about persevering and fighting through in these "dark times," comes more than a year since their last single, "Kill This Love," and ends a period of inactivity that has left fans frustrated.

Korean entertainment news website Soompi, citing the group's agency, YG Entertainment, earlier reported that the Blackpink is scheduled to release another song in July or August before they drop their first Korean studio album.

Last month, Lady Gaga unveiled her collaboration with Blackpink, "Sour Candy," which was part of the pop star's album, "Chromatica."

Since debuting in 2016, the band — comprised of Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa — has yet to release a full album, prompting fans to protest at YG Entertainment's headquarters in Seoul last year.

The band comes from the same company that formed K-pop powerhouses Big Bang and 2NE1.
