Marigona, a finalist in the Miss Q&A segment of "It's Showtime," topped the list of trending topics on Twitter Monday afternoon, after her feisty performance earned her a winning streak in the semifinals, only for it to be snapped in the final round.

In the semifinals format of Miss Q&A, five finalists race to answer correctly a question, to get the upper hand in a succeeding debate round.

The contestant who answers correctly has the privilege to: see first the debate question, after the two sides are revealed; and choose whether to take up the debate, in which case she picks her opponent; or to pick two other finalists she wants to pit against each other.

If she decides to take up the debate, she can also choose which of the two possible answers she will defend, the other being given to her opponent. If she opts to skip the debate and choose two others to participate instead, she also gets to assign who will defend which. In both instances, she also picks who will answer first in the back-and-forth.

Marigona experienced both: being picked to debate, and choosing who she would debate with. Having won three rounds of debate, her cash brize ballooned to P75,000 for that day alone. (Each round earns a finalist P25,000.)

Her final opponent, Khei, edged Marigona to answer first in the quiz portion. Khei therefore got the upper hand in the final debate round, about which between same-sex marriage and divorce should be enacted into law first. Khei picked to defend same-sex marriage, leaving Marigona with divorce.

Marigona, clearly rattled, ultimately lost to Khei, whose calm demeanor and concise answers were praised by the judges.

The result pushed Marigona's name as the top Twitter trend for hours on Monday afternoon, with some viewers expressing dismay with the "unfair" question, and others saying there could have been numerous ways Marigona could defend prioritizing divorce, but fell in the end fell short.

Marigona's previous fights must not be considered when deciding for this round. Khey must win this because she stated every points she wanted to discuss. On the otherhand, Marigona struggled to conceptualize. If Marigona wins, they played favoritism.#ShowtimeTNTYear3Ravan

I think Marigona was good but Khey really owned the round. Some say that the question was unfair because the candidates could relate more to the SS Marriage. For me the it wasn’t bc if Marigona used the Abused Partners and Bible card, she could’ve made a stronger point.
