MANILA (UPDATED) - Davao del Norte Representative Antonio Lagdameo has been receiving threats over his decision to support the vice- presidential bid of Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., the manager of his wife, actress Dawn Zulueta, told ABS-CBN News Friday night.

Lagdameo began receiving a series of sinister text messages last May 16, according to a report published by the Philippine Star. One of the messages read, unedited: "Nakamonitor na kayo simula pa pagpunta u ng Davao. Ung tao mo sa Cotabato pauwiin mo naren at baka madamay pa salamat."

The report said Lagdameo, quoting his lawyer, received another threat on May 26, that his wife was being stalked by four people riding motorcycles in Laguna, and that an unidentified man tried to kidnap his son, Jacobo, last Wednesday.

According to Lagdameo's lawyer, Rudolf Philip Jurado, a man tried to get hold of Jacobo as he was leaving school, but security escorts were able to foil the attempt. He added that the incident prompted them to alert the National Bureau of Investigation regarding the threats.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News' MJ Felipe, Lagdameo's lawyer, Rudolf Philip Jurado, confirmed the reported kidnap attempt.

"May napansin iyong security escort nila na may isang lalaki na papunta sa bata," narrated Jurado. "Paglapit niya ay hinawi niya iyong lalaki, tapos ayun umalis na. Iyon an nag-trigger to make it public."

Jurado said that the incident involving Lagdameo's son and the text messages are all being investigated. He furthered that Lagdameo and his family thought the threats would die down after the elections.

Zulueta and Lagmadeo are known supporters of Marcos. The couple were frequently seen with the son of the late strongman, Ferdinand Marcos, in photos posted on the Instagram account of Zulueta throughout the campaign period.

Marcos lost the vice-presidential race to Liberal Party's Maria Leonor "Leni" Robredo.

Zulueta has so far refused to release a statement.
