Jay R is in no rush to marry girlfriend Mica Javier --and there's a perfectly good reason behind it.

In an interview on "Tonight with Boy Abunda" on Tuesday, Jay R explained why he has yet to propose to Javier, a GirlTrends member whom he has been with for more than four years.

"Si Mica kasi she's a rising star right now and I'm so proud of her. She's on 'It's Showtime' everyday. Right now, she's focused on herself," he said. "It's been her dream to do music, to be able to dance on TV, to be acting, so sabi ko, 'Let's just focus on our careers.'"

He added that he is also busy managing his independent label, HomeWorkZ Music, which features recording artists Kris Lawrence, Paolo Onesa, Robin Nievera, and Javier herself.

Recently, HomeWorkZ Music scored a milestone when Jay R's all-original OPM album, "Elevated," became a certified Gold Record.

In the same interview on the late-night talk show, Jay R talked about why he ditched doing cover albums for "Elevated."

Noting the success he had being a cover artist, he said: "At the end of the day, it's still a cover album. It's not a Jay R album, it's not my creativity, not my artistry. ...Iba iyong satisfaction."
