When RK Bagatsing was still trying to break into showbiz, he tried out for "hundreds" of auditions each month. For television shows, movies, commercials --he didn't care, he just wanted one call back, he recalled.

But the rejections kept piling up, until the pressure he imposed on himself became too much to bear. "Umabot ako sa depression," he said during his interview on "Tonight With Boy Abunda" Thursday.

He added that he rarely left his room, refused to talk to his family, and started questioning his abilities as an actor.

So how did he overcome those trying times? By opening up, he explained. "When I decided I needed the help of the people I love," he replied to a question about moving beyond the episode.

He also credited his brother, actor Raymond Bagatsing, for giving him much-needed advice. "I think I owe it to him the most, kaya ako nandito," he said. "Ang dami niyang ibinibigay sa akin na perspective, and looking back, I'm so lucky because I was able to open up my mind sa mga ganu'ng anggulo."

"I'm really thankful na nandoon siya nu'ng time na iyon."

He was on the late-night talk show to promote an upcoming episode of "Ipaglaban Mo" on Saturday. He co-stars with Kim Chiu in the episode shot in South Korea.
