MANILA -- It's still anyone's guess when the light at the end of the tunnel's going to come about but, at least to fans of ABS-CBN, a glimmer of it was perhaps seen in the return of "It's Showtime."

Since the quarantine began and after ABS-CBN's free channels were ordered to shut down, the hosts of the noontime show have been vocal about how keen they are to try and lift the spirits of their fellow Filipinos, especially in this pandemic full of uncertainty.

They found hope in the announcement of the Kapamilya Channel, and they were ready, piecing together quickly a segment lineup focused on encouraging charitable acts, helping those without jobs to find one, and prizes that aim to help whole barangays.

It was warmly welcomed, evidenced by how quickly their hashtag for the day, #ShowtimeMagkaisayahan, shot up to the top of Twitter's trending topics list, many voicing out how happy they were to just see the hosts once again, laughing and having fun.

"Alam namin hinihintay n'yo kami. Ito na magkakasama na tayo ulit. Sana magdire-diretso na," said Vice Ganda.

Of course, with a vaccine still unavailable, precautions had to be taken to minimize the risk of COVID-19 as much as possible.

The contestants and hosts were tested, face shields were worn, and physical distancing was observed throughout.

But other than that, it still feels pretty much the same "It's Showtime" many have come to love. It's just that, with this "new normal," the focus is clear: help out as many Filipinos as they can.
