MANILA -- She is the granddaughter of former Vice President Salvador Laurel and great-granddaughter former President Jose P. Laurel on her father's side, while on her mother's side, she is the great-granddaughter of Don Francisco "Paco" Sanz, former governor of Romblon and Palawan.

Given her political pedigree, is actress-singer Denise Laurel also ready to enter politics?

This was the questions posed to her when she appeared on "Tonight with Boy Abunda" Wednesday.

"No, Tito Boy," Laurel politely replied.

Laurel added that she is not equipped to serve in government as a politician.

"I did not go to school for that. My heart is with helping people and being there for people," Laurel explained, adding that she prefers someone who is well-equipped to enter politics.

"I'm gonna find something outside of government where I can help others," she added.

Laurel and onscreen partner Jason Abalos were on the show to promote their upcoming episode of "Ipaglaban Mo."

In this episode, they play a young couple, who became consumed by jealousy and insecurity after years of being together.
