MANILA — For the first time since they announced their breakup in January, and amid speculation that they have since rekindled their romance, Nadine Lustre and James Reid had a joint interview on Monday.

The tandem, known to their fans as "JaDine," joined the live stream of MYX Philippines, in light of their nominations for the upcoming MYX Music Awards. They're up for Music Video of the Year for "Summer," and for Urban Video of the Year for "Fiend."

The virtual interview touched on several topics, including the former couple's respective quarantine routine, collaborating on the tracks they were nominated for, and causes they are passionate about.

They, however, did not discuss the status of their relationship.

Mostly, they delved into Lustre's upcoming full-length album, which will be released under Reid's own record label, Careless Music.

According to Lustre, they recently had a "lock-in" period to produce the album, which Reid estimated to be 70% finished with at least 13 tracks planned to be in the final cut.

The lockdown, Lustre said, has helped her process of creativity, as it's given her time to "be in my head" to write songs.

"We're focusing mainly on empowerment and self-love," Reid said, referring to the album's theme. "It's Nadine's experience. She's one of the strongest women that I know. She's been through so much, and I've seen her grow. The inspiration was all there. It was really just getting the people together to help tell that story."

Lustre has been open about her past bout with depression and anxiety, as well as the death of her brother who had had a similar struggle. More recently, she became the subject of headlines after she severed ties with her former management, Viva Artists Agency.

"A lot of people message me and kind of look up to me when it comes to empowerment or being strong and fearless," Lustre said, when asked why she opted for a message album. "This is the perfect platform or catalyst to help empower and inspire people who listen to my music."

Noting that three songs are about mental health, Lustre added, "The album is very personal, because it's all about what I went through, my experiences."

"We're 100% focused on Nadine's album," Reid said. "We're really proud of it. I feel like it's going to be the biggest project of the year."
