Onscreen couple Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia are far from sweethearts and are instead rivals, as seen in the first teaser for their upcoming film with Kris Aquino, "I Love You, Hater."

In the minute-long video released Friday night, a determined Zoey (Barretto) is shown crying as she vows to make a name for herself. The breakdown, in public, catches the attention of Joko (Garcia), who starts recording the moment.

The two cross paths anew as they both apply to be executive assistants of Sasha (Aquino), a former broadcast journalist whose foray into digital content production spurred the birth of a media empire she owns.

Unimpressed by her rival, Zoey challenges the idea of Joko, a man, being able to keep up with the demands of a CEO, particularly a woman. Joko takes this as his cue to introduce himself as a gay man, switching on a flamboyant demeanor.

"I Love You, Hater" is the third big-screen project of Barretto and Garcia, following the massive success of "Vince & Kath & James" and "Love You to the Stars and Back." This marks their first team-up with Aquino, who is making her film comeback.

Directed by Giselle Andres and produced by Star Cinema, "I Love You, Hater" is scheduled to hit cinemas nationwide on July 11.
