MANILA – If their fans are elated that Gerald Anderson and Kim Chiu have reunited (at least on screen), the actor claims that he is the happiest person after both of them were given the chance to work together again.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Monday, Anderson said he would not be where he is today if not for Chiu, who was with him when he started his showbiz career.

The two started their careers as housemates on the first teen edition of the reality show "Pinoy Big Brother" (PBB).

“After 'PBB,' coming into this kind of environment, laging may interviews, may taping, nakakatakot and nakaka-overwhelm. There were times na talagang sobra akong na-overwhelm nung bata ako. Minsan hindi ko na nga alam kung nasaan na ako. But having her there and having someone na lagi nakasuporta sa ‘yo, seeing her go through this, also gave me strength,” he said.

After their stint on “Pinoy Big Brother,” Anderson and Chiu went on to become a real-life couple but broke up in 2010 amid controversies surrounding their relationship.

In the years that followed, both of them were paired with other celebrities.

Nonetheless, Anderson treasures all his memories with Chiu, especially now that they have rekindled their friendship.

“In my personal situation, sobrang blessed lang talaga ako because showbiz can be a blessing and a curse but I take it as a blessing dahil nagkaroon ako ng platform na maging kami ng ex ko,” he said.

Currently, Anderson and Chiu are the lead stars of daytime series “Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin,” which airs before “It’s Showtime” from Monday to Friday.
