MANILA – Angel Locsin’s “Maalaala Mo Kaya” episode which aired on Saturday took social media by storm with its official hashtag making it to Twitter’s trending topics both in the Philippines and worldwide.
The story, which was the second half of the two-part episode of “MMK,” was told from the perspective of Locsin’s character. She played the role of Samina, a Muslim woman who allegedly abducted a young boy, whose biological mother was portrayed by Dimples Romana.
Last Saturday, the episode was told from the vantage point of Romana's character, and her struggles with finding clues about her son’s supposed abduction.
Some netizens said last night’s beautifully written episode taught them that there were always two sides to a story, and that people should refrain from judging others based on race or religion.
Below are some of netizens’ tweets, lauding not only Locsin but also actress Jane Oineza, who played Samina’s sister in the story.
This is Locsin's sixth time on "MMK." Her last outing on the drama anthology saw her portray the girlfriend of one of the soldiers who died in the deadly Mamasapano clash.
