MANILA — Movie star Daniel Fernando is poised for proclamation as Bulacan governor with election returns Tuesday showing his wide lead over his competitors.
Fernando, who ran under the National Unity Party, led by nearly 300,000 votes with 697,908, based on 98.77% of transmitted unofficial results as of 5:53 p.m.
Trailing in the gubernatorial race were Agila Natividad (401,207), Teddy Natividad (157,288), Joel Coronel (8,326), and Kuya Jay Ocampo (5,851).
Fernando, who was known early in his career for his sexy roles, continued to be visible on mainstream television via teleserye portrayals.
His foray into politics saw him serving three terms as vice governor of Bulacan, with his new post marking a milestone in his government career.
