It's a bit weird, Jasper Lacson admits: the fact that his lolo, whom he dedicated his "Idol Philippines" audition to, has never heard him sing. It's just that every time he tries to show him, he says, he shies away.

But after hearing him perform an original composition of his for the judges of the talent show this Saturday, there's no doubt that most of the viewers will agree that he has to be more confident.

Clearly a gifted singer, Lacson won over all four judges, particularly Vice Ganda and James Reid, with his "Together" song.

"You moved me. You're vulnerable. Your walls are down --I really felt the performance. You have a really nice voice, it sounds good on record and you're amazing at guitar," praised Reid.

Vice Ganda commended his ability to "connect" to his audience, and that he was surprised to learn that "Together" was an original of his.

Lacson is a 20-year-old college student who is currently studying music technology at the University of Santo Tomas.

He credits his grandfather as one of his biggest inspirations, but shares that he has yet to hear him sing.

This fact changed this Saturday when his lolo came to Manila from Sorsogon to watch his audition.

Hosted by Billy Crawford, "Idol Philippines" airs Saturdays after "Home Sweetie Home" and Sundays after "Wansapanataym."
