MANILA -- Kim Chiu has revealed that the best birthday gift she received last April 19 was a long letter from her rumored boyfriend Xian Lim.

"Effort po 'yon," she quipped. "Hindi lahat ng tao nabibigyan ng letter."

Standing behind her in awkward silence was her former boyfriend Gerald Anderson, who will co-star with her on Dreamscape's "Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin."

According to Chiu and Anderson, much has changed since their last project in 2012.

Chiu says Anderson has become more silent and serious to the point that he would immediately return to his car after taping a sequence.

"Ngayon alam na niya 'yong ginagawa niya parang mahal na mahal niya talaga 'yong trabaho niya," Chiu said of Anderson. "Serious na nga siya palagi eh. Hindi naman serious 'yan dati."

According to Anderson, he was just silent because it seemed surreal for him working with Chiu again.

"Parang weird kasi nga natulala ako in a while," he recalled. "Nawala ako doon for a while kasi hindi ako makapaniwala na nangyayari 'to."

Anderson said Chiu has also changed a lot, but for the better. She is now funnier and full of energy during their taping.

"Ganun pa rin siya in a good, good way," Anderson adds. "Ang nakakatuwa kasi kahit ano 'yong nangyari at ano 'yong narating niya, ganun pa rin siya. Mas may energy nga lang."

With a promising storyline at hand, Chiu and Anderson said they will not shortchange their fans in the new project.

Last month, they gave the audience a taste of what to expect with a more mature tandem by starring in an "MMK" episode.

A stellar cast consisting of Jake Cuenca, Coleen Garcia, Gina Pareño, Dante Rivero, Michael De Mesa, and Ayen Munji-Laurel is also backing them up.

Directed by Dan Villegas and Onat Diaz, "Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin" will premiere on May 1, before "It's Showtime."
