MANILA – Three years into her relationship with Jeff Ortega, Jasmine Curtis-Smith feels like there’s still a lot more she wants to achieve as an individual that might prove difficult if she would tie the knot now.

“I was very honest naman with him in saying na I think there’s still a few things na I still have and want to do. Ang dami ko pang dreams and need ma-accomplish on my own na might be difficult, just as an individual really, as a sister, as a daughter, sa sarili ko,” she said in an interview Tuesday.

When asked to expound on what these things are, the younger sister of Anne Curtis said it’s more on self-discovery and her dreams as an actress.

“Parang mga self-discovery pa or paghihilom sa mga nangyari before na hindi ko pa maintindihan or hindi pa ako maka-move on para rin hindi ko siya dinadala,” she said.

“Bukod naman doon, sa mga pangarap din, di ba? Siyempre we all have limited movements din sa industriya. So 'yung mga personal kong dreams, gusto kong ma-accomplish siya and to feel on my own, na sa akin siya. Hindi ako tinulungan ng boyfriend ko or ng kapatid ko,” she added.

Nonetheless, Curtis-Smith said she and Ortega have been talking about settling down, although not anytime soon.

“Hindi pa ako ready but napag-uusapan na,” she said. “I don’t know [kung kalian].”

Since Ortega is from a political clan in La Union, Curtis-Smith was also asked if she if she thinks her boyfriend will also get into politics.

“Feeling ko naman nasa family line nila 'yun. Huwag na natin itago na baka in the future, he might have a role in it. If that’s his calling, then support. The same way na calling ko to act [and he supports me],” she said.

Curtis-Smith, however, could not hide her seeming apprehension when the topic was brought up.

“Ibang mundo na 'yun. Iba na ang tsismis sa politics sa tsismis ng showbiz. Wala na akong alam doon. I guess because unfamiliar 'yung world for me, medyo may apprehension. But the apprehension comes from siguro dahil wala nga akong alam sa mundong 'yun. Kailangan na lang niya ako turuan kung dumating ang panahon na 'yun,” she said.

Will she be campaigning by his side if that time comes?

“Hindi ko pa nakikita. I don’t know. We’ll see,” she said.
