LOS ANGELES – Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is one of most bankable international stars in Hollywood, with diverse roles from Disney’s Moana to the Fast & Furious franchise.
What helped the former pro-wrestler through tough times? Faith, Johnson said.
“I think the one thing that helped me was faith and having faith that things will get better and having faith in my own ability,” he said.
“The one thing I can have faith in is my ability to work, and work hard at something.”
He likes to share this faith with other people, he said, helping others also get through difficulties.
“A lot of times, even if you don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow…just having faith in yourself, and the work that you can put in, you’d be surprised at how far you can go,” he said in an interview with ABS-CBN North America.
Johnson is starring in the latest installment of the Fast and the Furious franchise, “The Fate of the Furious.”
In previous interviews, he said that he remains appreciative of his loyal Filipino fans, who have supported him since his career in wrestling, years before he started acting in movies.
"I miss the Philippines. I love the Philippines. The first time I was there was a very special experience for me because I’ve never been to the Philippines before and I wrestled there. And it was a massive crowd that came to see me wrestle and I’ll never forget it. So the love that was there at that time was very, very special," he said. – with Yong Chavez, ABS-CBN North America News Bureau
