A "confused" Julia Barretto asked fans Friday to "stop pitting women against each other," after her tweet triggered a harsh exchange of words between her supporters and those of Loisa Andalio, who was formerly paired onscreen with Barretto's rumored boyfriend, Joshua Garcia.

The "drama," as Barretto termed it, started when she quoted and appeared to agree with a tweet from blogger Rod Magaru, which reads, "Ang kay Julia ay kay Julia."

Barretto's re-tweet was interpreted by some fans as a supposed swipe against Andalio, who is Garcia's co-star in the ongoing primetime series "The Good Son."

Fans of Andalio, apparently taking offense with Barretto's post, had a range of responses, from calling Barretto "threatened," to asking her why she appeared to take personally Andalio and Garcia's onscreen romance.

Barretto's own fans naturally came to their idol's defense.

The actress, however, was not having it.

In a follow-up tweet two hours later, she said: "What's all this fan war about? I'm so confused. How'd it lead to that? I was pertaining to the rumors spreading about Josh and I, and some people managed to make more stories up. I'm 21, not 12. Stop making two people who are okay fight. Stop it with the drama."

Barretto was referring to her rumored breakup with Garcia, following the viral spread of screenshots showing Garcia's supposed Instagram account messaging another woman, and the "love team" subsequently un-following then following each other again on Instagram.

That rumor has since been put to rest, when Barretto and Garcia exchanged tweets apparently pertaining to speculation without basis.

While Barretto did not explicitly mention Andalio in her tweets Friday, she asked warring fans to "stop pitting women against each other," adding, "It's not cute."

Andalio, who was Garcia's fellow "Pinoy Big Brother" housemate in 2014, has maintained in recent interviews that while they remain on good terms, they no longer have a close relationship. This, despite them being billed as a tandem -- "Loishua" -- for a time.

Interestingly, Andalio is now paired onscreen and is rumored to be in a relationship with Ronnie Alonte, who was Barretto's two-time leading man in the primetime series "A Love to Last" and the romance-drama film "Vince and Kath and James," also featuring Garcia.
