MANILA — Kim Chiu’s newest vlog, about the horrific van shooting that almost took her life, had her reflect over a bunch of “ifs”: if her driver had lurched forward a bit while driving, he would have been most likely dead; if her personal assistant had sat an inch or so towards where some of the bullets landed, she might not have survived; if Chiu herself hadn’t decided to take a quick nap and continued reading the script she had for work, she would have been also most likely killed.

Her emotional video, uploaded this Friday, had her recall the incident, in which all of them inside her van miraculously emerged unscathed, to debunk those who have been saying that it was fake, or that she was paid to play the victim in the alleged “staged ambush.”

“Paano kung tumuloy iyong bala, aanhin ko iyong binayad nila sa akin?” Chiu, in tears, said.

Chiu did not name the people who have been accusing her of lying about the incident, but admitted that she was extremely bothered by the comments.

“Gusto ko lang silang tanungin, kailangan ba talagang may mataman o mamatay para sabihin ninyong totoo iyong nangyari?” she asked.

She also defended herself by saying that she would never put the lives of those who cared for her — in this case, her driver and personal assistant — at any sort of risk for mere publicity, saying that she already considers them as part of her family.

In the same video (seen above), Chiu revealed that she had been informed that the person who was supposed to be the target of the ambush had already reached out to her camp.

She shared that the person had planned to be interviewed for clarification, but had a change of mind because of fears over being killed.

As of writing, the suspects in the incident have yet to be apprehended. Mistaken identity is being looked at as a possible explanation for the ambush on Chiu’s van.

By the end of her vlog, Chiu said that she hopes that this would be the last time she will have to recall the harrowing experience.

“Masaya ako na buhay ako, nandito ako,” she said.
