MANILA — The House of Representatives on Tuesday formally recognized actor Gerald Anderson’s appointment as a goodwill ambassador of a national youth group.

Anderson, 31, was appointed to the position by the Philippine Youth-KASAMA (Kabataang Sama-samang Maglilingkod) in December 2019.

On Instagram, Anderson and Star Magic, which handles his career, shared photos of him at the session hall inside Batasang Pambansa, where he was formally recognized.

The star of “A Soldier’s Heart” also posed with several officials, including Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano, Majority Floor Leader Martin Romualdez, Leyte 4th district Rep. Lucy Torres-Gomez, and Lipa Rep. Vilma Santos.

During his initial appointment ceremony, Anderson, who is also an Army reservist, spoke of how celebrity can be used to be of service to others, mentioning as an example the 2009 Ondoy calamity.
