Jed Madela's motivation for launching his new record label, Prime Music, is easy to understand.
"Ayaw kong maramdaman ng mga bagong artists ngayon kung ano iyong pinagdaanan ko," he told Push.
In an interview uploaded Monday, Madela explained that his new imprint, to operate under Star Music, aims to provide another avenue where homegrown talents can get their "big break."
He pointed out that deserving singers who win at international competitions, such as the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA), rarely get opportunities to shine locally.
"Sayang lang kasi we bring them to the States to compete and then pag-uwi nila dito ay nahihirapan pa rin sila," Madela said.
Madela is the first Filipino to win as grand champion in the WCOPA. He shared that despite his unprecedented feat, he still found it difficult to find a label when he returned home.
