Baste Duterte is refreshingly honest, a trait that, if comments related to his recent TV interview are anything to go by, Filipinos long for in today's showbiz industry that has all been too reliant on placing a zip on the lips of those who fall prey to rumors mills.

While a good many will prefer to stay silent when asked about speculations suggesting they committed infidelity, the presidential son brought to the table a brash approach in an interview with TV5 that even the host didn't anticipate.

Pressed for the truth on his overlapping romance with sexy actress Ellen Adarna and girlfriend Kate Necesario, Baste shrugged.

"Alam nilang dalawa at pumayag naman sila," he said, looking unapologetic as he let out a smirk. "Anong magagawa ko? Sinabi ko naman at naging honest naman ako sa kanilang pareho."

Direct, simple, and straight to the point. Baste refused to beat around the bush and leave room for vagueness or misinterpretations. He explained his tricky love triangle and defended himself by saying he had been fair to be both women.

"Fair naman ako. Sabi ko naman sa girlfriend ko, 'Kung ayaw mo ito then we can talk this out kung anong mangyayari sa atin.' That's the same thing I did with Ellen, I was open na may girlfriend ko. So ewan ko sa kanila, sa kanila talaga iyon," he said.

He added: "May faith pa rin naman ako na someday na may makakatuluyan . . . may makasama akong babae. That's faithfulness. Pero kung loyal, hindi ko alam."

Baste's personal life has found its fair share of the spotlight over the past few weeks or so, no less thanks to President Rodrigo Duterte himself who criticized his son over his romantic endeavors.

Baste's posts online also caused quite a stir which led to more questions than answers. Having a bit of fun with the extensive coverage he has been receiving, he flip-flopped between saying he and Necesario broke up and then taking it back within minutes.

"Wala naman talagang nagbago. Iyong bago lang kasi ay napapansin ako ng mga tao," he shared, as he spelled out the changes in his life after his father won the presidency. "Pero it's the same me. Ganito naman talaga way before . . . Tanggap ko na talaga iyong eksena na ganito."
