Sheryn Regis is making her local showbiz comeback after 10 years in the US. ABS-CBN
Unknown to many of her fans, singer Sheryn Regis was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2016, facing the possibility of losing her voice altogether.
Regis, who was based then in the United States, underwent surgery that risked affecting her voice, she recalled in an interview on “Tonight With Boy Abunda” that aired Tuesday.
A patient who had undergone the same still had no voice after six months, she said. But the decision was easy for Regis: Giving up her instrument was worth it, if it meant she could live on for her child.
Fast-forward to 2020, Regis is cancer-free and is, in fact, making her Philippine showbiz comeback, her soaring voice intact.

In her interview, Regis also talked about her life in the US, including her time as a teacher. She also touched on her relationship with her daughter, Sweetie, who hopes to follow in her footsteps.
