MANILA — Dozens of artists identified with ABS-CBN attended on Friday a rally calling for the network’s franchise renewal, amid attempts to block the continued operations of its television and radio broadcast.

Among them were Coco Martin of the primetime stalwart “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” and screen veteran Jericho Rosales.

They joined a growing chorus of Filipinos expressing support for ABS-CBN, pointing out the 11,000 jobs at risk if the network’s broadcast operations cease, and the potential closure’s implications to press freedom.

Clad in white and wearing ribbons with the iconic colors of ABS-CBN, other celebrities who lit candles were Angel Aquino, Shaina Magdyao, Yassi Pressman, Joel Torre, Mark Lapid, and Raymart Santiago.
