It's been five years since a "singing street kid" from Tanza, Cavite became an Internet star, and subsequently clinched the top prize in the first kids edition of "The Voice of the Philippines."

That girl, Lyca Gairanod, is now a teen and has bloomed, quite expectedly, as a showbiz up-and-comer.

Gairanod, 13, won the hearts of viewers of "The Voice" with her soaring voice and "masa" song choices, such as Aegis' well-loved "Basang-Basa sa Ulan." Her dainty frame belied her powerful vocals, and as part of Team Sarah, continued to surprise audiences week after week -- until, in July 2014, the aspirant dubbed "little superstar" was declared winner.

Since then, Gairanod expanded her horizons to include acting -- she starred in "Hawak Kamay" and "Maalala Mo Kaya" -- on top of debuting as a solo recording artist as part of her "The Voice" prize.

Her most recent regular TV stint was "Your Face Sounds Familiar," where she impersonated several of her idols, including Nora Aunor, with whom she has been constantly likened.

Nowadays, Gairanod continues to perform in mall shows, as well as in vlogs with her fellow "Your Face" contestant Sam Shoaf. Like many child stars before her, Gairanod now appears to be in the awkward phase of transitioning to a teen. But with her proven talent and morena beauty, a new big break doesn't seem so far off for this former street kid.
