MANILA — Here’s an unexpected treat on Valentine’s Day: the iconic tandem of John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo bringing to life the indie blockbuster “That Thing Called Tadhana” through a live script reading at an outdoor venue.
Cruz and Alonzo surprised moviegoers at Ayala Tower One in Makati, where their 2007 film “One More Chance” was screened to kickoff Art Fair Philippines’ “10 Days of Art.”
The onscreen partners showed up after the screening of their film (notably projected on the venue ceiling), accompanied by “That Thing Called Tadhana” director Antoinette Jadaone.
Script in hand, they proceeded to channel Anthony and Mace, originally portrayed by JM de Guzman and Angelica Panganiban in the 2014 indie film.
Interestingly, Panganiban is a former girlfriend of Cruz and is a known close friend of Alonzo.
The live script reading marked Cruz’s first major public appearance in a showbiz setting since his return from his two-year hiatus.
