MANILA -- "She's very happy."

This is how Coleen Garcia described her friend, Nadine Lustre, who recently made headlines after rumors of her breakup with James Reid surfaced.

In an interview before the special screening for Garcia's film "Mia" on Thursday, the actress said that both Lustre and Reid are doing fine.

"Okay naman siya. She's very happy. Actually she's in a very good place ngayon. Maganda ang simula ng 2020," Garcia told members of the entertainment press.

She added: "Okay din naman [si James]. I mean, they have the whole Careless thing going on also, and that's doing really well."

Garcia previously confirmed that she was with Lustre and Reid after the New Year's Eve countdown amid their reported split.

She said Lustre thanked her and apologized to her amid the controversy.

"Actually nag-thank siya at nag-sorry din siya. Kasi wala naman ako sa lugar para sumagot sa tanong na ganito, di ba? So nag-sorry din siya," Garcia said.

"Pero okay naman, I'm her friend, I understand... She just said 'thank you' lang."

Meanwhile, Garcia shared her excitement over her film "Mia," which also stars Edgar Allan Guzman.

"Some of the scenes na ginawa ko rito, I've never done before. Tulad ng mga drunk scene... Kakaiba siya for me as an actress," she said.

"Iba rin 'yung inaral ko and ginawa ko for this film. At 'yung story, maganda ang story, hindi siya predictable at magaan lang siya," she added.

Produced by Insight 360 and directed by Veronica Velasco, "Mia" will hit cinemas nationwide on January 15.
