MANILA -- In late 2023, Google launched its generative AI tool called Gemini.

Like OpenAI's ChatGPT, Gemini can give out information based on specific questions asked by users. But how can users best use Gemini and tap into its vast knowledge base from Google?

Google Philippines marketing head Gabby Roxas said Gemini can be used to get analysis or insights into various industries or businesses. He also noted that Gemini can be used to get key data from documents uploaded by users, and added that these results can even be exported to sheets.

Roxas noted, however, that there are ways by which users can write prompts to get better results from Gemini.

First, Roxas said users must use natural language and write as if they're speaking to another person.

"It can be conversational. You can ask more questions about it," Roxas said.

"Through that conversation and engagement, you're adding more color to what you're expecting. It can learn from you. So mas malinaw (it's more clear)," he said.

Roxas also said users must be specific with what they're asking.

For example, instead of asking about "marketing talking points," users can instead ask Gemini, "Give me 12 questions to ask a chief marketing officer."

"Gemini can follow precise user instructions, so avoid using ambiguous language," he said.

Roxas also advised users to be concise when typing in Gemini requests.

"The more context you give to Gemini, the better it can understand your request and generate a useful response," Roxas added.
