In a statement, Balai said the purchase will help them sell cakes and therefore get more customers. Sugarhouse is known for their iconic chocolate truffle cakes and French apple pie.

The acquisition includes assets such as intellectual property, technical know-how, delivery, commissary and store equipment. BALAI will also take over Sugarhouse's catering business.
