MANILA - Providing fast internet even in the middle of the sea is key to attracting millennials to the cruise ship tourism market, an official of one of the largest cruise ship operators in the world said Tuesday.

Angie Stephen, Royal Caribbean International managing director for Asia Pacific, said the company is optimistic on the growth of the cruise ship tourism market in Asia especially among younger clients.

"We're really seeing people finding it as an interesting holiday option because it's new, it's glamorous and it's aspirational," Stephen said in an exclusive interview with ANC's The Boss.

She said that the company has been innovating to provide more amenities like indoor skydiving, flow-ride surfing and indoor wall climbing to cater to a wider clientele.

But high-speed internet is the key to millennials, she said, who always need to stay connected.

"So we always see them purchasing our wifi packages," Stephen said.

"It's all about those Intragrammable moments. They're looking for, those one-off experiences that they can brag to their friends about," she added.

Royal Caribbean operates some of the biggest cruise ships in the Asia Pacific region and is set to make port-of-calls to Boracay, Subic, Manila and Ilocos next year.
