MANILA - Globe said Monday it has begun testing the embedded Subscriber Identification Module (eSIM) technology in select devices.
The eSIM is a virtual embedded SIM that allows multiple devices such smartphones and smartwatches to share the same mobile phone number, without needing a physical SIM.
The technology comes pre-installed in mobile and wearable devices, and is equipped with automatic activation, Globe said.
Globe said it is currently testing the technology on eSIM-enabled gadgets such as iPhone Xs, Xs Max, and XR; Apple Watch and Huawei Watch.
"Before the year ends, Globe customers with eSIM-enabled devices can get QR cards at Globe Stores and scan it using their phone to activate their eSIM," the company said.
