Cebu-based tycoon Augusto "Gus" Go's idea of a boss may have resonated through how his lone heiress to his throne was brought up.

And that heiress happens to be his daughter and only child, Candice Gotianuy, also a chancellor at the country's largest private university, the University of Cebu, with more than 50,000 students in over 44 campuses, who basically helps Go run his hospital business, too.

In many Chinese-Filipino families, it's the son who usually takes the helm, but that has never bothered Go.

"The advantage is that a daughter is more closer to the father. There's only one child and she's a daughter and I'm very proud of her. That's it," says Go.

Go says that his daughter makes the decisions and that he "really gives it to her," including a heart-melting story he fondly shared when his daughter ordered free breakfast for 100 students after a student who missed a scholar's meeting told her she did not have breakfast.

"I think her heart, if I may say so, is more or less...we have the same genes. It's a fantastic feeling of helping people," said Go.

Beyond all the helping, Go shared what traits an idea boss should have, probably essentials that have allowed him to sustain those 'spur of the moment' business ideas that have now become
his multi-million empire. So what to him is a boss?

"A boss must lead. The boss must have a heart. The boss must not only be a leader but see to it even their family welfare is taken care of," said Go.

" The boss must feel the employees is a partner, that you are working together for a goal. That is my idea of a boss," he added.
