MANILA - Third telco player DITO Telecommunity on Thursday said it has partnered with two key firms for services "crucial" to their rollout.

DITO recently signed a deal for the lease of common towers that Luis Chavit Singson's LCS Group will be putting up nationwide, DITO chief administrative officer Adel Tamano said in a statement.

DITO also signed a "breakthrough" deal with Sky Cable Corp. for the utilization of unused fiber-optic cables within Metro Manila, the statement said.

Singson's LCS Group joined a consortium that bid for the third telco spot, but later on conceded to DITO, formerly known as Mislatel.

The company "is still very passionate in fulfilling its commitment to the public in improving the quality of telecommunication services, with the underserved first in mind," Singson, LCS group chairman, said.

Existing telecommunication assets of the two partners will support DITO's rollout "without having to build everything from scratch," Tamano said.

DITO Telecommunity is the consortium of Dennis Uy's Udenna Corp. and Chelsea Logistics with state-run China Telecom.
