MANILA -- Filipino beauty and cosmetic surgery empire Belo Medical will open its first clinic in Dubai next year, the group’s founder and CEO Dr. Vicki Belo said Saturday.

The Dubai clinic was supposed to open in 2016 but Belo decided to postpone it due to logistics.

The 2019 opening date is now expected to push through after the celebrity doctor “partnered with a sheikha.”

“I’ve been postponing it for a while but I know we should [open already] because that’s where we can make more money,” Belo said.

Some 20 percent of Belo Medical’s clients are overseas Filipino workers, the bulk of which come from the Middle East, she said.

Belo opened a clinic in the United States in 2011 while her son, film and television director Quark Henares, was studying in California.

“I had to close it down because it was so difficult to travel and manage clinics in 2 different countries,” she said.

The soon-to-open Belo clinic in the Middle East will only offer non-surgical services, she said.

The Belo Medical Group, which offers cosmetic procedures, facial and skin treatments, as well as slimming services, has been operating in the Philippines since 1990.
