MANILA - The Social Security System said Thursday workers who were involuntarily separated could avail of its unemployment benefit by filing documents online.

"Benepisyo po ito, wala pong babayaran ito po ay tulong natin sa mga nawalan ng hanapbuhay involuntarily," SSS Public Affairs and Special Division acting vice president Fernando Nicolas told DZMM Teleradyo.

(This is a benefit. There is no fee since its a form of assistance to those who lost their livelihoods involuntarily.)

Here are the requirements to avail of the cash aid:
- Certification from the Department of Labor and Employment proving that they were involuntarily separated or terminated
- SSS accounts must be enrolled at My.SSS portal
- At least 36 monthly contributions
- At least 12 monthly contributions during the last 18 months of work
- Requirements can now be submitted online through My.SSS

Beneficiaries are entitled to receive up to P20,000, depending on their monthly salary credit, Nicolas said.
