MANILA - A new pedestrian overpass was opened on Buendia (Gil Puyat) Avenue on Friday as part of efforts to encourage walking to work in the Makati financial district.

The covered walkway crosses Buendia from the upscale Columns condominium complex to RCBC Plaza, according to its builder, the Makati Commercial Estate Association (MACEA).

Aside from elevated walkways, 14,721 square meters of open sidewalks in Salcedo and Legazpi villages were also renovated, it said.
