MANILA -- The Philippine Stock Exchange said Monday trading hours would stay shortened "indefinitely" while officials monitor improvements during Metro Manila's shift to general community quarantine.

The PSE trading floor reopened Monday after months of off site operations, with transactions allowed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. before the quarantines started last March.

"We will see how the market is developing. We will see how the traders will react to the reopening of our trading floor. All of this will be ongoing until we have a review after a month or two," PSE President Ramon Monzon said.

Monzon said the PSE would allow online submission of requirements to help companies raise capital.

"They don’t have to come here, only coming for certain discussions. We will continue to review our policies to adjust to the new normal," he said.
